| Abstract | The present study was focused in the "Cerrado" vegetation, a type of savanna biome, and in the studies to improve the understanding of the variability in terrestrial ecosystem carbon exchange and climate-biosphere interactions. The study area enclosed "Triângulo Mineiro", in the State of Minas Gerais (Brazil) (48o35W x 18o31S), and 2003 MOD13-NDVI product (16 days composites) had been used in this work. The objective was to evaluate the capability of this MODIS product to provide information about the spectro-temporal phenologic profiles of the Cerrado biome and of two other important associated land uses (pastures and agricultural vegetation). The variations in the temporal/spectral behavior of Cerrado areas correlated to the hydrological seasonality of the precipitation data. Natural vegetation responded both to the beginning and to the ending of the hydrological stations, but with a delay of four months. The annual time series of MODIS data provided a successful way to monitor the phenology dynamic of the Cerrado biome and validation using ground observations are recommended. | |||
